Alabama has seen its strength and conditioning staff shuffle in recent weeks, and the Crimson Tide recently added a strength staffer who has extensive experience in the Big Ten.
Rick Danison is now listed as an assistant strength and conditioning coach, and he revealed the job on his Twitter account. The turnover Matt Rhea (director of sports science) and Matt Clapp (assistant coach) left Alabama’s staff earlier this offseason to work for the New Orleans Saints.
Danison joins David Ballou (director of sports performance), Paul Constantine (assistant coach) and UJ Johnson (assistant coach) on the football team’s strength staff.
1 week down, got to be apart of finishing off a high level out of season program and cap off with some ball. Thanks to @UA_CoachBallou and Coach Saban for an incredible opportunity. #RollTide

Danison spent the last 2 years at Michigan State where he worked as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Spartans’ football program, Bama OnLine reported. Previously, he was at Indiana for 11 years, including 5 years as the director of athletic performance. He was with the Hoosiers while Ballou and Rhea led IU football’s strength program. Danison also has NFL experience as an strength and conditioning assistant for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2008-09.
In other staff moves, Alabama also listed official roles for both Drew Svoboda and Sal Sunseri, assistant coaches from last year’s team that moved off the field this offseason. Both are now labeled as senior special assistants to head coach Nick Saban.
