Alabama snapped Georgia’s 33-game home winning streak in a thrilling victory on Saturday night in Athens, proclaiming to the nation that it was firmly back in the College Football Playoff conversation.

The Crimson Tide pulled it off in primetime despite not scoring a single point in the second half of the 24-21 victory. They did enough offensively in the first half, putting up all 24 points, and then clamped down defensively when needed in the second half to stifle the Bulldogs and escape with the statement win.

A long list of Alabama players were responsible for the victory over Georgia, which moved the Crimson Tide up 7 spots to No. 10 in Sunday’s new AP Poll. Alabama celebrated the key players in Saturday’s win by naming 9 of them Players of the Week on Sunday afternoon.

The elite list is headlined by quarterback Ty Simpson, who once again played a clean game with 0 turnovers to help give Alabama a chance at stealing the win. The other 8 on the Players of the Week roll call were: offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor, quarterback Jon Gazzaniga, punter Blake Doud, wide receiver Lotzeir Brooks, defensive back Bray Hubbard, defensive lineman LT Overton, linebacker Abduall Sanders Jr. and defensive back Brody McCutcheon.

The Alabama football social media account celebrated the achievement by the 9 players with this post:

While Simpson led the effort on offense, Hubbard was the rock on defense, leading the unit with 9 total tackles, 5 of them solo.

Every player among the 9 Players of the Week played their own specific role in getting Alabama a gigantic victory in Week 5.
