Avery Johnson provides NCAA Tournament update on Alabama’s top rebounder Donta Hall
Alabama opened as a slight underdog in its 2018 NCAA Tournament Round 1 opener against Virginia Tech. That game could very well be decided on the status of injured player Donta Hall.
Alabama’s best rebounder (averaging 6.8 rebounds per game) and second-leading scorer (averaging 10.9 points per game) had to leave the Auburn game after suffering a concussion against the Tigers. He did not play in Alabama’s loss to Kentucky the following day.
Monday, Avery Johnson provided the latest on Hall’s status heading into Alabama’s NCAA Tournament opener:
Alabama coach Avery Johnson on Donta Hall’s status: “He’s day-to-day. We’ll work out this afternoon, and probably don’t anticipate him participating in that workout. He’ll end up probably being a game-time decision.”

Unfortunately for the Crimson Tide, the team’s opening tourney game is on Thursday and not Friday, giving Hall a less day to recover. Alabama is scheduled to play Virginia Tech at 8:20 p.m. CT on TNT.
