After Alabama DL Jonathan Allen had a monster game against Texas A&M, recording six tackles (including a monster sack) and returning a fumble for a touchdown, many have been talking about Allen as an outside candidate for the Heisman Trophy.
On Tuesday, coach Nick Saban addressed his star defender’s Heisman hopes:
Saban on Jonathan Allen Heisman talk: I hope he does get considered and I think he would be a great candidate for it.

However, Saban did say that he thinks it’s highly unlikely his talented defender takes home the trophy:
Saban on Jonathan Allen's Heisman hopes: I think the Heisman Trophy normally goes to skill players. Linemen usually get overlooked.

With six sacks and a couple of touchdowns already, Allen is at least making himself a strong candidate for the Bronco Nagurski Trophy.
