Alabama fought until the final out but ultimately fell short against Ruston Regional host Louisiana Tech. With a 10-8 loss, the Crimson Tide is eliminated from the 2021 NCAA Baseball Tournament.

Alabama was playing as the home team against host LaTech and trailed 10-6 going into the bottom of the ninth. The Crimson Tide loaded the bases and scored two runs on a passed ball and a 4-3 ground out. With the score 10-8, Sam Praytor walked and Zane Denton came to the plate representing the winning run. Denton hit it to deep right, but the park held it and the flyout ended the game.

Alabama was considered a bubble team coming off of a 2-2 showing in the SEC Tournament. UA made the Ruston Regional, dropping their first regional game 8-1 to NC State. The Tide rebounded with a win against Rider in the losers’ bracket game on Saturday to stay alive in the Regional. With Sunday’s loss, Alabama baseball finishes the 2021 campaign with a 32-26 record.

After four innings, La. Tech held a 9-5 lead, adding one more run in the seventh inning.
