The Alabama Crimson Tide have the unenviable task of facing Heisman Trophy-winning QB Kyler Murray in the College Football Playoff semifinals.

However, Murray and the Sooners haven’t seen a defense like Alabama’s yet, and DL Quinnen Williams is a star in his own right.

Williams spoke about trying to stop Murray, and he knows he’ll need to be on his game on the interior defensive line on Dec. 29 (via AL.com):

“You really have to affect him,” Williams said. “You really have to close the pocket in, make sure you get a fence around him. Pushing the inside pocket will be a big thing.”

And if that fails? Williams has a backup plan:

“Get your hands up,” Williams said. “Kyler is short. We’ve got Raekwon (Davis) 6-7, I’m 6-4, (Isaiah) Buggs 6-4. Just getting our hands up. Just affect him in general. Get pressure on him. Get hits on him. If he’s throwing the ball short, get our hands up.”

That’s easier said than done, but if any defense can slow down Murray, it’s the Tide’s.
