Since the College Playoff Committee put Alabama and Washington together in the Peach Bowl, Huskies coach Chris Petersen has had high praise for the Crimson Tide.

Petersen recently told ESPN, “”I knew about their offense and I knew about their defense. Then I put on their special teams, and I got more depressed.”

Crimson Tide DL Dalvin Tomlinson thinks that Petersen is trying to mess with Alabama’s mental approach with the constant praise.

“I think maybe they are trying to fly under the radar and make us feel ourselves a little more and get big-headed and then make more mental mistakes on the field,” Tomlinson said at Tuesday’s press conference. “We have to stay level-headed and go to practice every day like we are the underdogs and practice hard every day like we do the whole season.”

The senior lineman is determined that the Crimson Tide will be better prepared than they were against Ohio State in 2014.

“We don’t want to get distracted like we did a couple of years ago,” Tomlinson said, referring to Alabama’s opening-round loss to the Buckeyes.

With senior leadership like Tomlinson, one can expect that Alabama won’t be taking Washington lightly, despite Petersen’s wishes.
