The last time Alabama went up against Notre Dame in football, the results weren’t pretty for the Irish. If the Tide put on the fullcourt press for Nevada quarterback prospect Cade McNamara, the results could be the same.
McNamara, one of the top QB prospects in the nation in 2019, commit to the Fighting Irish last summer but has seen his recruitment gain significant steam since that time. Following his commitment to Notre Dame, Michigan, USC and now Alabama have all extended offers to the Reno native.
Listed at 6-foot-1, 187-pounds, McNamara is rated as a four-star prospect, the No. 8 pro-style passer and the No. 1 overall recruit from Nevada according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Alabama currently has four 2019 commitments but does not hold a pledge from a quarterback. The Crimson Tide did not sign a quarterback during the 2018 recruiting period, either.

In three years of varsity football, McNamara has thrown for 9,089 yards, 107 touchdowns in addition to 205 rushing yards and 10 scores.
Judging by his junior season highlight reel, McNamara has the quick release and pocket presence necessary to excel at the game’s next level. He appears to be an ideal fit for what the Tide currently look for in a QB, as he possesses good footwork in addition to a big arm.
