Alabama suffered a big blow during their emphatic 33-14 victory over Texas A&M on Oct. 23 — as safety Eddie Jackson broke his leg.

The dynamic defensive back — who also returned three punts for touchdowns — will be out for the season.

Head coach Nick Saban spoke to USA TODAY about what losing Jackson means for his program:

“We’re certainly going to miss him, but what a great player, what a great competitor, and what a great guy to have in this program for the time he’s been here. He’s done a fantastic job for us and I’m just sick for him and his family. I hate it that it’s one of the things about sports, all sports, and that we have to deal with sometimes as injuries. It’s unfortunate, especially when it happens to a great guy and a very, very good player.”

Jackson is a senior out of Florida. His versatility has immensely helped Alabama’s secondary over the years — as has his leadership.

This can’t be easy for the veteran defensive back. Alabama is in the middle of yet another National Title hunt, and Jackson can only watch from the sidelines.

As a means to perhaps cheer him up, Alabama fans have taken it incumbent upon themselves to cheer up Jackson as he recovers:

With this amount of daily mail, Jackson resembles that of a trendy ‘tween’ pop star.
