Alabama finishes among the top-10 most talked about sports teams on Twitter in 2016

The 2016 calendar year was a big one for sports fans.
Whether it was the Summer Olympics in Rio, the Golden State Warriors making history with a 73-9 record, the Carolina Panthers trying to cap off a 15-1 season with a Super Bowl victory or the Chicago Cubs ending a 108-year World Series drought, there was plenty for sports fans to talk about on Twitter.
Among the most talked about teams, checking in at No. 7, was Alabama. #RollTide was one of the 10 most-used sports hashtags of the year:

As the Crimson Tide march toward a chance at another national title, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them on the 2017 trending list as well.
