Alabama football: SEC Network analyst ranks Tide 3rd in latest SEC power rankings
Week 4 is upon us in the 2021 college football season, and teams are starting to find their identity. The contenders are separating themselves from the pretenders.
ESPN/SEC Network analyst Chris Doering released his latest power rankings heading into Week 4, and there was 1 big surprise — Alabama. The Crimson Tide aren’t ranked No. 1 in Doering’s rankings. In fact, they’re ranked third.

At No. 1, Doering has the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs above every other team in the SEC. Following the Bulldogs at No. 2 are the Ole Rebels. With Alabama at No. 3, Doering finished his top-5 power rankings with the Florida Gators at No. 4 and the Arkansas Razorbacks at No. 5.
There are a couple other interesting notes to highlight with the power rankings, too. The biggest exclusion from this list is Texas A&M. The Aggies have had some close wins, including their 10-7 road over the Colorado Buffaloes.
We’ll find out Saturday whether the Aggies or Hogs are the better team.
