The Alabama Crimson Tide will be one of the favorites to win the SEC title again in 2021-22 after doing so last season.

However, on Tuesday, it was announced that the Crimson Tide bench had suffered a major loss as offseason workouts are set to pick up.

Per a release from the school, forward James Rojas has suffered a torn ACL and underwent successful surgery on Tuesday afternoon:

“We are disappointed to lose Rojas, but he is as tough as they come,” coach Nate Oats said in a statement. “He had a similar injury two years ago on his right knee and responded well to the rehab process. I am confident that he will attack this rehab in an aggressive, similar fashion and will be surrounded by the best doctors, athletic trainers and sports medicine professionals to help him throughout the entire process. We are confident he will be available for us during the SEC season.”

As Oats mentioned, Rojas has had a similar injury before. The release said he anticipates being able to play this upcoming season, but we’ll have to see how the rehab process goes over the next few months.

Rojas played in 30 games for Alabama last season, making 1 start. He averaged 2.9 points and 2.6 rebounds per contest.
