The most hyped SEC Championship Game in years has lived up to the hype from Atlanta as Alabama and Georgia are locked in a heavyweight fight that could determine the league’s College Football Playoff spot.

Heading into the halftime break, the defending SEC champion Bulldogs are up 21-14 on Alabama, the defending national champions.

So far, it’s Georgia that’s been the more impressive team in this showdown, led by an incredible performance from Jake Fromm. Meanwhile, the perceived Heisman Trophy favorite, Tua Tagovailoa, is really struggling in this game. Fromm has completed 14 of his 18 passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns while Tagovailoa is only 3 of 9 for 35 yards and one interception.

While Tua hasn’t been very sharp, the Crimson Tide’s running game has shouldered the offensive load for the team in this one.

The Tide have rushed for 112 yards on only 12 carries. Josh Jacobs has 77 yards on five carries and he has scored both of Alabama’s touchdowns. Damien Harris has also chipped in 29 yards on only four carries.

The Bulldogs have also been steady on the ground, thanks to D’Andre Swift. The UGA back has 65 yards on 12 carries. He also has one touchdown.

Tua’s interception was the only turnover of the game. Alabama did fumble into the end zone just before halftime but the Crimson Tide recovered the ball for a score.
