Alabama is looking to get back to competing for national championships after going 9-3 in the first season of the Kalen DeBoer era.
While that type of season would be considered very good for vast majority of college football programs, Crimson Tide fans are looking for the team to get back to the national championship picture. Talent isn’t a question for the Crimson Tide, as they have some of the most talented players in all of college football.
Each year, Bruce Feldman of the Athletic posts a preseason ‘Freaks List’, highlighting some of the most physical and impressive athletes in all of college football.
Alabama is well represented on that list, with 3 offensive linemen being named to that list this year.
Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith was named the No. 1 player on the list, with Crimson Tide OL Kadyn Proctor being named No. 2.
Feldman was blown away with what he saw out of Proctor, saying this about star lineman:
The biggest, by far, of Alabama’s three O-line Freaks, the 6-7, 366-pound Proctor’s body has 274 pounds of lean muscle mass with 26 percent body fat. His strength numbers are awesome. This summer, he squatted 815 pounds, benched 535 and power cleaned 405. Honestly, I was even more blown away when I found out he vertical jumped 32 inches and broad jumped 9-3. He’s 366 pounds! That 32-inch vertical is as much or more than five of the wideouts who were at this year’s combine. It’s the same as Colorado’s LaJohntay Wester, and he weighed 203 pounds less.
Joining Proctor on this list from the Crimson Tide are two more offensive lineman Parker Brailsford (20th) and Jaeden Roberts (27th).
Last season was the first for Brailsford at Alabama, as he started his career with DeBoer at Washington. It didn’t take him long to get adjusted to the SEC, as he was named first-team All America last year for the Crimson Tide.
Roberts was on this list last year as well. He will be a 3-year starter for the Crimson Tide and he squatted an incredible 805 pounds this offseason, per Feldman.
Alabama is set up for a huge bounce back season, in large part because of one of the best offensive lines in the country.
