As it turns out, Nick Saban doesn’t need satellite camps after all.

Khalid Kareem, a four-star defensive end from Farmington Hills, Mich., verbally committed to Alabama on Wednesday. Kareem was said to be a lock for Jim Harbaugh at Michigan, but chose the Crimson Tide.

Kareem surprised all during a ceremony at his school. He is Alabama’s 16th commit for the 2016 class, a group currently ranked inside the Top 10 nationally per 247Sports Composite.

The 6-foot-4, 255-pound pass rusher plans to enroll early.
