Alabama LB Mekhi Brown likely to wanted to stand out in the National Championship Game, but not in the actual way he did.
Brown was flagged for a personal foul penalty after punching a Georgia player in the face during the game, and when he came back to Alabama’s sideline, he received an earful from Nick Saban and just about everybody else.
Brown then nearly got into it with Alabama’s director of player personnel Kerry Stevenson and finally found his way to an empty seat on down the sideline to cool off. Below is a replay if you missed it.

Brown stayed in the game and ended up making a clothesline tackle on Sony Michel during kickoff coverage.
Brown spoke to Yahoo! Sports’ Pete Thamel after the game about the incident:
“I really felt like a jerk,” Brown told Yahoo Sports. “That’s not how I am. I wanted to win, that’s what it was … I did something stupid. I could have cost us the game. I knew I had to keep my composure and poise. I could have affected the whole team and I didn’t want to do that.”
“You have to be mature,” Brown said. “I’m a grown man. I knew I had to make a big play to get my guys to wake up. That’s what I did. That’s definitely out of my character what I did.”
Thamel included in his story that Brown cried for nearly five minutes following the game, realizing the dumb mistake he made.
