On Monday, Alabama LB Rashaan Evans sent panic through the fanbase when he tweeted, “It’s been fun Bama.”

The tweet started speculation on whether Evans was transferring from the program or not. However, Evans cleared the air after the Crimson Tide’s SEC Championship Game victory on Saturday night, according to 247Sports:

“The message was just me recapping over this whole season,” Evans said. “It was kind of like me telling everybody, ‘Man, it’s been fun, this whole time.’ I’m just trying to take each and every game and not try to look too far ahead. I just wanna take each game and make game count.

“That was what it was, it wasn’t about transferring, nothing like that. I was just kind of recapping over the whole season.”

That’s good news for the Alabama faithful, since Evans will be counted on to play a large role in the defense moving forward.

LB Shaun Dion Hamilton will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury he suffered vs. Florida, so Evans will step in as a starter.

Coach Nick Saban has plenty of confidence in the junior linebacker heading into the College Football Playoff:

“We’ve looked at Rashaan Evans as a starter on our team all year long,” Saban said after the game. “He’s played a significant amount. He’s always the first guy in if anything happens to Reuben (Foster) or Shaun Dion. … He’ll (Hamilton) be missed, but we have a lot of confidence in Rashaan, and he did a good job for us today.”

Alabama will find out its semifinal opponent on Sunday afternoon, but the Crimson Tide are expected to play Pac-12 champion Washington in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 31.
