Alabama is losing one of its linemen as sophomore Rowdy Garza revealed that “due to unforeseen circumstances,” he would enter the transfer portal.

Garza joined the Crimson Tide last season, but did not see any action.

When he received a preferred walk-on offer, he told Touchdown Alabama Magazine that, “It is amazing,” Garza said. “It is my dream school.”

Garza is listed at 6-foot-4 and 312 pounds, and from Trussville, Alabama.

When he received the PWO, Alabama had four verbal commitments from Hewitt-Trussville’s roster. That included Alabama’s 2019 commits, Pierce Quick and Paul Tyson, Bear Bryant’s great-grandson.

“That plays a pretty large part in it,” Garza added. “Those two guys are just like brothers to me. They are family.”

In his announcement on Twitter, Garza thanked his parents, coaches and teammates and the Alabama program for allowing him to improve as a personal, teammate and player. Ultimately, Garza said he’s hoping to find a new team to grow with.

Here are some of his highlights from high school via Hudl:
