Every SEC school except for Auburn has a rooting interest left in the playoffs, but Alabama and LSU share a unique position. No matter which of the four teams left standing wins the Super Bowl — the Indianapolis Colts or the New England Patriots in the AFC, the Green Bay Packers or the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC — both the Crimson Tide and the Tigers will have an alumni earn a Super Bowl ring.

It’s no surprise, given how the two have churned out talent in recent years. The two SEC West rivals, who engaged in a hard-hitting overtime thriller in November, are tied for having the most alumni playing in the pros among SEC schools, with 42 players on rosters from each school. They’re the only two teams in the SEC with a player, either active, on injured reserve or on the practice squad.

Alabama Crimson Tide

  • Indianapolis: Josh Chapman, NT; Trent Richardson, RB
  • New England: Dont’a Hightower, LB;
  • Green Bay: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, S; Eddie Lacy, RB; Adrian Hubbard, LB (IR)
  • Seattle: James Carpenter, OG; Kevin Norwood, WR; Jesse Williams, DT (IR)

LSU Tigers

  • Indianapolis: Ricky Jean-Francois, DT; LaRon Landry, S; Kadron Boone, WR (IR)
  • New England: Brandon LaFell, WR; Stevan Ridley, RB (IR)
  • Green Bay: Matt Flynn, QB
  • Seattle: Tharold Simon, CB
