Alabama scored four touchdowns during the first quarter of Saturday’s game against Tennessee and had a 28-point lead at halftime.

The Crimson Tide also made history with their early offense against the Vols.

By the third quarter, Alabama had scored at least 50 points for the sixth time this season. The Tide’s previous season high was five 50-point games in 1945.

Prior to Saturday’s game against Tennessee, Alabama had also scored at least 50 points against Louisville, Arkansas State, Ole Miss, Louisiana-Lafayette and Arkansas. The Crimson Tide scored 45 points against Texas A&M and 39 points against Missouri.

Alabama has gotten off to a strong start to the season, winning its first seven games. The Crimson Tide quickly put themselves in good position to improve to 8-0 during Saturday’s game at Tennessee.

Tua Tagovailoa pushed Alabama past the 50-point mark when he threw his fourth touchdown pass of the game early in the third quarter. Less than three minutes into the second half, Tagovailoa had passed for 306 yards.

Josh Jacobs scored two rushing touchdowns in the first half, while Damien Harris added another.

While no team has shut down Alabama’s offense, the Crimson Tide will have a tougher challenge after their bye week when they travel to play LSU on Nov. 3.
