The defending SEC champs and odds-on preseason league favorites to repeat trounced one of the Big Ten’s best teams at AT&T Stadium, more than enough to sway voters. The Buckeyes were the unanimous choice to stay at No. 1 after their highlight-rich win at Virginia Tech on Monday night and collected all 61 first-place votes.
Saturday’s victory marked Nick Saban’s 57th career win against a Top 25 opponent. He currently holds the SEC’s best winning percentage against ranked teams (.641).
Junior running back Derrick Henry rushed for a career-best 147 yards and three touchdowns against the Badgers to earn SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors in addition to the FWAA’s National Offensive POTW award.
