Alabama started the Kalen DeBoer era in style with a 63-0 blowout of Western Kentucky.
The Crimson Tide on Sunday unveiled their players of the week from the Week 1 victory: Jalen Milroe and Tyler Booker gained offensive honors while Keon Sabb and Jihaad Campbell gained nods on the defense. James Burnip was the special teams player of the week.
Milroe recorded just 9 pass attempts but completed 7 of them for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns, adding 79 yards and 2 touchdowns on 10 carries. Thanks in part to Booker’s effort on the offensive line, the Tide yielded just 1 sack on the afternoon.
Defensively, Sabb, a transfer from Michigan, came up with a pair of interceptions to go along with his two tackles in his Alabama debut. Campbell led all players with 9 tackles, 1 for a loss.
Burnip, the Tide’s punter, was called upon just 3 times, averaging 50.6 yards.
Along with those players, Alabama named 3 players as its scout team players of the week — Graham Roten (offense), Kolby Peavy (defense), and Jay Loper (special teams).
