Alabama is off to a 9-0 start this season following Saturday’s win over LSU.

The Crimson Tide continued their strong season with a victory over the Tigers in Tuscaloosa. LSU actually gained more offense and led in time of possession, but the Tigers could not score enough to pull off the upset.

Alabama was led by QB Jalen Hurts who threw for a touchdown and ran for another while RB Bo Scarbrough added a rushing touchdown.

It was certainly not the best game of the season for the Crimson Tide, but maintaining a perfect record is what matters at this point. The win is another crucial one in an intense rivalry, and Alabama’s coaching staff has selected nine players for Players of the Week honors. The school shared the announcement on Monday.

The Offensive Players of the Week for Alabama are Hurts and TE Irv Smith Jr. Hurts accumulated 227 total yards of offense and two touchdowns while pacing the Tide to victory. Smith contributed two catches for 25 yards and hauled in Hurts’ touchdown throw from four yards out for a score.

The Defensive Players of the Week for Alabama are LB Rashaan Evans, DB Ronnie Harrison, and DL Da’Ron Payne. This trio of players led a Tide defense that shut down the Tigers passing game. LSU managed just 155 yards through the air with a 48.4 completion percentage against Alabama. Harrison had six tackles with half a sack and an interception. He was also named a C0-Defensive Player of the Week in the SEC. Payned had four tackles, half a sack, and a QB hurry in the game. Evans had 10 tackles and a sack.

The Special Teams Players of the Week for Alabama are DB Keaton Anderson, LS Thomas Fletcher, LB Keith Holcombe, and P JK Scott. Scott had a tremendous day punting the ball and was named the Special Teams Player of the Week in the SEC. Fletcher and Anderson contributed on the punt squad to allow just one Tigers punt return of just two yards. Holcombe added two tackles on kickoff coverage.
