The Alabama coaching staff has recognized seven players as Players of the Week following Saturday’s win. The school released the list of players on Monday.
The Crimson Tide finally suffered a bit of a scare with the Aggies keeping the score close for much of the night. The Tide hung on to win 27-19, and a win is all that matters for Alabama at this point.
The coaching staff recognized seven total Players of the Week with three from the defense and special teams and a lone player from the offense for their performance Saturday.
The lone Offensive Player of the Week was RB Damien Harris. Harris kept up his strong play with 124 yards and a touchdown on just 14 carries. It was his second 100-yard game of the season, and his season yards per carry is up to 8.47. That number is good for third in the nation.
The Defensive Players of the Week were DB Minkah Fitzpatrick, LB Anfernee Jennings, and DL Da’Ron Payne. Fitzpatrick truly did it all while lining up at four positions for the Tide defense. He finished with five tackles, two TFL, a pass breakup, and an interception. Jennings added seven tackles and two pass breakups in the win. Payne had six total tackles for the Tide up front and appeared to be a problem for the Aggies OL all night long.
The three Special Teams Players of the Week were K Andy Pappanastos, DB Daniel Wright, and Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick was honored again for a fumble he forced while working as a part of Alabama’s kickoff coverage team. He also sealed the win by recovering A&M’s onside kick attempt late in the fourth quarter. Pappanastos recorded nine points and converted every kicking opportunity with a perfect 5 for 5 night. Wright recorded a tackle on kick coverage and leads all Tide special teams players with nine tackles on special teams.
