Alabama opens as road favorite over Auburn in Iron Bowl

Alabama saw its eight-game winning streak snapped against Oklahoma in Week 12. After dominating Eastern Illinois behind a monster rushing performance, the Crimson Tide hope that Week 13 was the tuneup they needed going into the Iron Bowl at Auburn.
The objective is clear for the Tide. Win, and they’re in the College Football Playoff. They’re also in the SEC Championship Game. It didn’t look likely after their season-opening loss to Florida State, but the path to Atlanta and the Playoff is clear.
Of course, Auburn will be looking to play spoiler. A win for the Tigers clinches bowl eligibility, but it also will knock their hated rivals from Playoff contention.
Circa Sports released its opening lines for Week 14’s slate on Sunday, and Alabama is favored by -5, as you can see below:
Alabama has won the last five games in the series and is 51-37-1 all-time. The last time the Tigers beat the Crimson Tide was in 2019, as they overcame four passing touchdowns by Mac Jones to come away with a 48-45 victory.
It will be the first Iron Bowl night game. That’s generally been a bad sign for Alabama, who is 1-4 in such games against Auburn.
