With Louisville QB Lamar Jackson struggling as the season winds down, the Heisman Trophy race is a lot closer than it was in October.

Though Jackson is still the favorite, others have made a case for themselves, including Alabama freshman QB Jalen Hurts.

Hurts and the Crimson Tide are the only undefeated Power 5 team in the country, which certainly helps his candidacy.

FOX Sports analyst Bruce Feldman has Hurts at No. 5 on his latest Heisman list, behind Jackson, Washington QB Jake Browning and others.

Feldman says Hurts’ passing numbers aren’t exactly Heisman worthy, though his rushing numbers are:

He’s been the most valuable player on the best team in the country. His wheels saved them against a nasty LSU D on the road. Still, his passing numbers aren’t eye-popping. He ranks third in the SEC–a league plagued by shaky QB play this season and had two INTs in the Iron Bowl.

Hurts has thrown for 2,454 yards and 21 touchdowns to go with nine interceptions this year. He’s added 840 yards and 12 touchdowns with his legs.

He’ll have the SEC Championship Game next weekend to try to add to his impressive stats, too.
