Rob Vaughn’s first Alabama team may not be able to bring back a key piece from the roster he inherited. Luke Holman, who served in the Friday night ace role this season, has reportedly entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.
Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball broke the news, sharing it Thursday on Twitter.
TRANSFER NEWS: Another big departure from @AlabamaBSB as RHP Luke Holman, the #Tide‘s Friday night starter, has entered the Portal, @d1baseball has learned. Holman tallied 87 strikeouts in 81 innings and had a .186 OBAhttps://t.co/eTepH8FGTd

If Holman follows through with transferring, he figures to have many teams interested in signing him. As a sophomore, Holman posted a season line of 81 IP, 54 H, 33 ER, 87 K and 31 BB over 332 batters faced. Holman’s 1.05 WHIP ranked 16th in Division I and 3rd in the league, per his Alabama bio.
Alabama’s 2023 season came to a close earlier this month after the Crimson Tide fell in the Winston-Salem Super Regional to No. 1 national seed Wake Forest, 1 of the 3 squads still alive in the College World Series.
Plenty of college baseball fans, especially in the SEC, will be following to see where Holman plays in 2024.
