Alabama posted a historic performance its dominant 59-0 shutout of Vanderbilt Saturday.
The Crimson Tide jumped out to a quick start and led by a score of 31-0 at halftime behind four touchdowns from RBs Bo Scarbrough and Damien Harris. The offense never let up and finished with 59 points and 677 total yards on the afternoon.
Alabama’s defense was equally impressive in the blowout. The Commodores managed just three first downs and 78 total yards. Vanderbilt averaged 1.7 yards per pass, 2.5 yards per carry, and turned the ball over twice.
Coach Derek Mason and the Commodores had no answer for the Crimson Tide, and Alabama set a number of school records in the performance.
According to the SEC Network, Saturday’s margin in total yardage was the largest in Alabama’s history:

AL.com reported the other notable stats from today’s performance. The margin of victory (59) was tied for the largest against an SEC opponent under Saban, and the Tide’s 496 rushing yards are the most under Nick Saban. Alabama has also gone 30 straight quarters without a turnover which is another school record.
Vanderbilt had started strong with a 3-0 record, but the No. 1 ranked Crimson Tide are a completely different animal. The dominant performances gives the Tide plenty of momentum moving forward.
Alabama moves to 4-0 and plays Ole Miss next Saturday. Vanderbilt falls to 3-1 and will face Florida in the Swamp next Saturday.
