Early in the 2016 recruiting cycle, when coaches and scouts spoke behind the scenes about elite junior college offensive tackles, the first name that they brought up was Charles Baldwin of ASA College in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Alabama liked him well enough to offer him a scholarship. He committed on June 5 and today made it officially that he is rolling with the Tide by signing his letter-of-intent.
Baldwin, who is originally from Windsor, Conn., can step in and compete for a starting spot right away this spring in Tuscaloosa. The 6-foot-5, 315-pounder has excellent feet, balance and flexibility — all are positive attributes for an offensive line prospect.
Crimson Tide offensive line coach Mario Cristobal, one of the best recruiters in the country, was his Tide recruiter-of-record.
Alabama currently has the nation’s No. 4 recruiting class.
