Alabama softball got a 3-0 victory against Chattanooga in the NCAA Tournament on Friday. The Crimson Tide did this despite getting outhit by the Moccasins 7-4.
Alabama got on the board first with a moonshot from Bailey Dowling that over the left field fence. The pitch was originally going to be a ball just above the strike zone, but Dowling saw it and crushed it to make it 1-0 Crimson Tide in the bottom of the 4th inning. Alabama is 30-4 this season when scoring 1st.

Ally Shipman was another one of Alabama’s bright spots, going 2-3 with a couple of singles. The 2 other runs for Alabama came from a sacrifice fly from Megan Bloodworth in the bottom of the 4th inning, and a Jenna Lord single in the 5th inning.
Alex Salter and Montana Fouts held it down on the mound. Salter went 3.1 innings with 1 strikeout, 4 hits and 1 walk allowed. Fouts allowed 3 hits and had 7 strikeouts in her 3.2 innings of work.
The No. 6 Crimson Tide await the winner of Murray State-Stanford to see who they’ll be playing next.
