The game between Alabama and Tennessee served as more than just an upset. It may have been a representation of just as to where the state of college football as a whole is.

Alabama has longed reigned as the most unbeatable team in college football — something of an expected loss before the game is ever played. But things look a bit different now with a Crimson Tide team that looks more shaky than it has been over recent history.

That showed through as Nick Saban’s team fell 52-49 to the Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville on Saturday.

“This game will go down as a pivot point for the rest of the season,” Matt Barrie of ESPN said Sunday. “Now what you have, Tennessee is undefeated. Whoever did Tennessee’s scheduling is absolutely genius because you’ve got UT-Martin next week… they’re fine. Then you go UT-Martin, Kentucky, Georgia.”

Barrie went on to explain how that impacts things and how it affects the college football landscape as a whole. (And let’s face it, this may be more of a pivot point for the shake up in the sport in general than just this season):
