Alabama vs. Georgia rematch? Fans already want more matchups of Week 5 thriller

Alabama and Georgia just produced an instant classic showdown in a Game of the Year candidate. But, here’s the good news for fans that got their money’s worth Saturday night.
This might not be the only game of the 2024 season between these two teams.
Entering Week 5, both teams were ranked inside the top 5 on the AP Poll. While Georgia is liable to slip (and Alabama rise), it’s hard to envision the Bulldogs falling too far after shaking off a horrific first half to take a late 4th-quarter lead.
Granted, Georgia did not finish off the game with the victory, but even having the chance — on the road — speaks volumes to what Kirby Smart can achieve with his team. It also has some fans eager to see a neutral-site showdown between Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama group and Smart’s Bulldogs, and that would be the scenario for any future games.
In the new format of a division-less SEC, there is a chance these two teams face off again down the road in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game. Even if that doesn’t play out, a 12-team College Football Playoff expands the likelihood for certain rematches, and fans have to feel like they just witnessed 2 of the best teams in the country battling it out.
That potential for a rematch is a tantalizing one, and it’s a thought already going through the minds of many people on social media. Take a look:
