Alabama made some news on Monday as the school announced that Georgia State would be added to the 2028 in the season-opener at home. However, with the SEC going to nine conference games, that leaves only three remaining games on the schedule.
The Crimson Tide already had Ohio State, UT-Martin and Oklahoma State on the schedule for the 2028 season, meaning the team will have to drop one of those games from its schedule.
Last season, the Texas Longhorns missed out on making it to the College Football Playoff with a 10-3 record. One of those losses was a road loss at Ohio State in the season-opener. Late in the season, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian voiced his frustration that the team was being punished because it made the decision to schedule a tough opponent in the non-conference play.
With that thought process there could be speculation that the Crimson Tide are going to try and get out of the matchup against the Buckeyes. Right now, that is all speculation, but one thing is for sure is that Kalen DeBoer and Alabama will have to make some changes to the schedule in 2028.
While Georgia State is the new season opener for the Crimson Tide in 2028, Alabama will get next season kicked off with a home game against East Carolina on Sept. 5.
