With Ohio State suffering a stunning loss against Purdue last Saturday, the list of teams that look capable of taking down No. 1 Alabama is beginning to dwindle.

But Clemson solidified its spot as the top challenger in ESPN’s consensus Vegas power ratings released Tuesday, though the Crimson Tide is still favored in the metric by nearly eight points. The rankings — which predict which team would be favored on a neutral field — are a combination of power ratings from ESPN’s Phil Steele and Will Harris, Bruce Marshall of the Gold Sheet and the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook.

The SEC placed six teams among the top 25, with Missouri being the lone league representative outside of the top 14. No. 5 Georgia sits two spots ahead of LSU despite the Tigers winning their head-to-head matchup by 20 points, while No. 13 Florida is one spot ahead of Texas A&M.

Also of interest to SEC fans is that these metrics consider Alabama a 14.9-point favorite against LSU if the teams would meet at a neutral site.
