On the heels of Alex Collins’ outstanding performance against Texas Tech last week, the Arkansas running back was honored early Thursday morning by being named the Maxwell Award Player of the Week.

Collins had another dominating performance for the Hogs behind a strong running game and physical offensive line. The sophomore standout rushed for a team-high 212 yards and scored twice. He also exploded for a game-clinching 84-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter to put the Razorbacks up 21 points.

In three games, Collins leads the SEC with 411 yards and is second in the conference with five touchdowns.

This recognition for Collins is historic for the university as well, as it is the first time in school history that a Razorbacks has been named the Maxwell Award Player of the Week.

This was also the second honor Collins has received this week. He was named the SEC’s Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Collins will take the field again this weekend when the Razorbacks square off against the Northern Illinois Huskies at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
