Alex Golesh is working to get his South Florida program built, but the former Tennessee offensive coordinator had a chance to visit with WJOX on the “McElroy and Cubelic In the morning” program on Thursday to reflect on Tennessee’s upset of Alabama last season.

The key for the Tennessee offense was to find favorable matchups. Though Golesh admits that he didn’t expect Jalin Hyatt to have such a monster game.

“But finding that matchup of him, and then finding ways to get isolated there, in a lot of ways they tried to matchup and find ways to solve the problem of helping on him, therefore making the box light,” he said.

Golesh admitted he’s most proud of the 4th quarter when Tennessee kept its composure and ran the ball effectively. That was big to manage the clock and the game, he said.

Golesh also credited the offensive line for stabilizing the Alabama defensive ends to setup the running game.

“That was a huge part of that game, that win, and I’ve got so much respect for those guys,” Golesh said.
