TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — University of Alabama junior wide receiver Amari Cooper’s record-filled season hit another major milestone on Saturday afternoon at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Cooper’s 79-yard touchdown reception from senior quarterback Blake Sims in the first quarter was his 18th career receiving touchdown, tying the Crimson Tide all-time mark set by Dennis Homan in 1965-57.

It was Alabama’s second long score of the game as junior running back Kenyan Drake had an 87-yard touchdown reception on the first snap. Cooper lined up in the slot, but was left alone due to busted coverage by the Florida secondary and made an impressive over-the-shoulder catch looking back into the sun.

At that point in the game, with 4 minutes and 12 second remaining in the first quarter, Cooper already had five receptions for 156 yards.

It’s his sixth straight 100-yard receiving game, which set a Crimson Tide record. Cooper had previously been tied with DJ Hall (2006).

He also had 2,346 career yards, needing just 577 to break the Alabama record held by DJ Hall (2,923).
