Amarius Mims will be out for several weeks, Kirby Smart said on Monday as Georgia’s right tackle will have a tightrope procedure.

Smart said that Mims suffered an ankle sprain and will have surgery with a timetable to return of 4-6 weeks, give or take.

“We don’t know how long that’ll be,” Smart said. “He’ll be back, we just don’t know how long.”

The junior suffered an injury in the second quarter of Saturday’s win over South Carolina. Mims tried to limp off the field, but eventually sat down and received attention from Georgia’s trainers. He then limped off with their help, though he did not put any weight on his left foot.

He returned to the sideline in the 3rd quarter on crutches.

Smart added that he expects Austin Blaske to return to practice on Monday. Smart said he’s not sure about the offensive line alignment for UAB this week because of the health of other players and availability later in the week.
