College football analyst Carl Reed named his freshman to watch in the SEC during Week 1 Wednesday afternoon.
Luther Burden III, the former No. 1 overall wide receiver prospect in the Class of 2022 and current Missouri Tiger, was his selection. Burden is likely to make an impact right away in a receiver corps returning just one starter from last season (Tauskie Dove).
“The guy that has the most to prove in Week 1, going into this college football season in Missouri freshman wide receiver Luther Burden,” Reed said. “There is no fanbase in the country, other than the University of Missouri, who has put this much stock into one football player. Everybody is taking off work in the state tomorrow, people are not going to go in on Friday. Everybody is going to Columbia to see touchdown Luther.”

‘Touchdown Luther’ is a nice touch for the 6-foot, 200-pound receiver out of East Saint Louis, Illinois. Alongside being the No. 1 receiver prospect in the nation, Burden was the No. 1 prospect tout of Illinois and the No. 3 player in the country when he committed to Eliah Drinkwitz and the Tigers last Ocober.
The college football world will see what he can do Thursday when the Tigers take on Louisiana Tech under the lights of Memorial Stadium.
