Andre Carter, star Army LB, given path to defer military service, enter NFL Draft

Andre Carter has been a star for Army football all season, but was previously unable to enter the NFL Draft with a military service mandate that goes into playing for the school. Until Tuesday morning, anyway.
A bi-partisan effort has paved the way for Carter to be allowed to enter the NFL Draft, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
NEWS: The path to the upcoming NFL draft has been cleared for Army’s Andre Carter. Bill language introduced this morning will give he and other upperclassmen the ability to defer military service. A feverish bi-partisan effort led to this coming together in 72 hours. Story coming

Carter is considered to be an early-round NFL Draft pick and has spent the past 3 seasons with the Black Knights. He totaled 37 tackles this season with 3 sacks and 2 pass deflections.
Across his career, the Missouri City, Texas native has accumulated 95 tackles, 18.5 sacks, 5 forced fumbles and 2 interceptions. 2021 was easily his best year, seeing him total an incredible 15.5 sacks in a single season.
