With safety Eric Berry returning to the Kansas City Chiefs’ facility earlier this week, speculation began flying that the former Tennessee star could practice and potentially even play this week.
At least one part of the rumors is true for now.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters Wednesday that Berry will practice for the first time since mid-August, when he began experiencing soreness in his heel that has kept him sidelined all season. It has been even longer since the former Volunteer played in an NFL game — he missed all but Week 1 of last season after suffering an Achilles injury in the season opener.
There it is: #Chiefs coach Andy Reid says safety Eric Berry (Achilles, heel) is practicing for the first time all season. Kansas City could get one of its best players back in December.

The three-time All-Pro has returned from more serious health issues before. After beating cancer, Berry came back for the 2015 season and earned recognition as the AP Player Comeback of the Year.
Now Berry, a first-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, looks set to make another comeback this season. That’s certainly a welcome sight for both Chiefs and Tennessee fans.
