Announcers react to late ‘no-call’ in final minutes of Nebraska-Illinois

Nebraska and Illinois played an excellent football game last night in Lincoln.

The Cornhuskers, led by freshman QB Dylan Raiola, played the Illini well heading into the 4th quarter, taking a late 24-17 lead. From that point, it fell apart at the seams. Illinois answered right back and went on to win in overtime, 31-24.

But some Nebraska fans argue the game ended premature. Devin Gardener and Tim Brando, who were calling the game, felt the below play should have been called a personal foul for this late hit by Illinois defender Seth Coleman.

See for yourself:

If it was called the Huskers would have received a first down, massive considering they were about to attempt to convert a 4th and forever. Should it have truly been a flag? Probably not, as his foot had just gone out of bounds and it wasn’t that hard of a hit anyway.

Could it have been called? Absolutely. We’ve seen flags fly for much less. But it’s an awful lot to ask for a Nebraska team that put itself in a terrible situation to begin with.

The Illini look like the real deal after their win the Huskers – especially defensively – and remain undefeated on the season at 4-0.
