Another top JUCO program dropping football after nearly 100 years

Just last week, Arizona Western College announced it was dropping football, ending a run of six decades with a team.

Now, a program that has been around even longer — Eastern Arizona College — has announced it will be dropping football, too.

Eastern Arizona has had a football team every year since 1920, so it’ll be shutting down after 98 years of operation:

It’s clearly been a bad year for Arizona JUCO programs, and having two teams stop football is something that surely can’t be a coincidence.

Football is an expensive sport, though, so it’ll be interesting to see if more top JUCO programs follow suit and end their affiliation with the sport in the coming years.
