Former Georgia men’s basketball player Anthony Edwards, who was the No. 1 overall pick for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2020 NBA Draft, caught the attention of Tom Brady after a video of Edwards playing football was released.

Edwards’ football skills were shown in a Twitter video posted to his page where he practiced throwing a football and he ran a route to catch a deep ball. Edwards was training on Georgia Tech’s practice field:

Brady joked that Edwards was playing the wrong sport, and Edwards replied that, since Rob Gronkowski had just retired, perhaps he should be Brady’s new top tight end:

Edwards finished his second season in the NBA in April, and he averaged 21.3 points per game for the Timberwolves in the 2021-22 season. He probably won’t be leaving the league anytime soon, but he has always loved football, dating back to his Georgia prep days.
