Anthony Richardson made his return to the Indianapolis Colts starting lineup Sunday against the Jets, and he made his presence known early in the game.

On a 2nd-and-goal from the 2-yard line, Richardson faked a handoff and rolled out on a bootleg, shrugging off a defender.

When turning the corner, instead of trying to avoid contact and dive into the end zone, he took a defender head-on and bowled him over into the painted area.

Richardson was notably benched in favor of veteran Joe Flacco after the team’s 37-10 loss to the Houston Texans on October 27. The former Florida quarterback completed 10-for-32 passes and was sacked 5 times in that game.

In each game that Richardson has thrown more than four passes, he’s completed 50% or less of his attempts, and he had tossed 7 interceptions to just 4 touchdowns entering Sunday’s action.

However, Richardson has already completed 8-of-11 passes for 103 yards against New York, and he’s tacked on 19 rushing yards, leading many to believe that the brief benching may have been a blessing in disguise for the second-year QB.

The Colts took a 13-7 lead into the locker room at the half.
