Anthony Richardson left Sunday’s Indianapolis Colts game against the Pittsburgh Steelers twice during the second quarter due to a hip injury.
Many fans are blaming the Colts’ coaching staff for the recurring injury, as Richardson exited the game at the 5:30 mark but returned just 2 minutes later. But, Indianapolis called a QB run on the first play of Richardson’s return, and he left the game immediately afterwards.

Likely a hip flexor injury that’s making it hard to swing his leg forward pic.twitter.com/YIp3cISzzy

Analysts and fans across the sport have expressed their displeasure with the playcalling:
Shane Steichen is an idiot. The first play where Anthony Richardson comes back into the game from an injury you call a run for him??
Way to protect your QB … good job

I can’t believe the Colts coaches did this.
Anthony Richardson left the game with a hip injury, at the 5:30 mark. He returns, limping, 2 minutes later, and the very first play is a QB run!!

Richardson has been plagued by injury throughout his young NFL career, and he has been ruled out for the rest of the game. He was 3-for-4 for 71 passing yards and had 3 carries for 24 yards prior to leaving.
