Anthony Richardson is being placed on the injured reserve list after sustaining a right shoulder injury in the Indianapolis Colts’ victory against the Tennessee Titans, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Schefter reports that the Florida product figures to miss 4 to 8 weeks based on his rehab process and if he needs surgery on his shoulder.
Colts’ QB Anthony Richardson is now expected to miss four to eight weeks, depending on his rehab and whether or not he still would need surgery on his right shoulder, per source. By placing him on IR today, the Colts are giving him time so nothing can, or has to be, rushed.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen is electing to go with Gardner Minshew for the Week 6 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
It’s been an injury filled rookie season for the quarterback. Richardson has left 3 games early so far. The previous 2 instances were for taking a hit to his knee in the season opener against the Jaguars and suffering a concussion against the Houston Texans, which forced him to miss the contest vs. the Baltimore Ravens.
Steichen is disappointing about this latest setback for Richardson.
“It gets tough when a guy gets dinged up, and he’s been dinged up,” Steichen said via ESPN. “He’s obviously a very, very talented player and it’s tough. But we have a lot of faith in Gardner to step in and go operate the way he’s been doing.”
The Colts chose the 21-year-old Richardson with the No. 4 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. Richardson beat out Minshew and Sam Ehlinger for the starting position on Aug. 15.
