The Colts selected the 21-year-old Richardson with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The explosive Richardson rated exceptionally at the combine, with a perfect Relative Athletic Score, joining Daunte Culpepper and Cam Newton as the lone quarterbacks to do so.
Richardson beat out Gardner Minshew and Sam Ehlinger for the starting job on Aug. 15.
While at Florida, Richardson completed 215 of his 393 passes for 3,105 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions. Richardson also rushed for 1,116 yards and 12 touchdowns on 161 carries as a Gator. One of Richardson’s most prolific games at Florida came in a loss last season vs. Tennessee in which he passed for 453 yards, and 2 touchdowns plus 62 rushing yards and two scores on the ground.
