Anthony Richardson slammed on social media after ugly loss to Texans

Published:
Anthony Richardson was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft and showed promise in his rookie season before it was cut short due to injury.
In 2024, the Colts are 4-4, with Indy falling 23-20 to the Houston Texans and dropping to 2 games behind their AFC South rival. It was a rough outing for Richardson, who was 10-of-32 for 175 yards while tossing a touchdown and interception while recording 6 carries for 45 yards.
He was also sacked 5 times, the last one coming on the final play of the game. The Colts somehow got to the line in time for Richardson to spike the football with 1 second remaining after precious time had ticked off the clock on a would-be late drive. However, after initially avoiding a sack, Richardson lost the football, which ultimately was recovered by the Texans with no time remaining on the clock.
The Colts, of course, have a history of great quarterback play in their franchise’s history. They weren’t expecting Richardson to be the next Peyton Manning (or Johnny Unitas, for that matter), but Indianapolis fans will be hoping for more in the future from their franchise quarterback.
Here’s a sampling of the reaction to Richardson’s play from social media:

The fact that anthony richardson was a top 3 pick tells me that the average car dealership manager could step in and do the job of an NFL GM.

Anthony Richardson does not give the Colts the best chance to win. Anthony Richardson is not a good NFL QB. Anthony Richardson is who he is, a great athlete that can make the occasional big play.

Anthony Richardson is a fun ass QB. Every single play is either awesome or horrible. No middle ground, just as God intended.

Anthony Richardson is the perfect example of why some of the draft experts who only project to the NFL and don’t worry about the college tape can’t be trusted.
Project-ability is important, but you’ve still got to watch the tape. And Richardson’s was so questionable.

Anthony Richardson 10/32 today wouldn’t even be the best hitter in baseball with those numbers

Anthony Richardson produces stat lines that’d get a high school JV QB benched.

I’m officially dropping Anthony Richardson in all my leagues.

Anthony Richardson is not the fix at qb that the colts think they needed. It's time for steichen to put his big boy pants on and do what's best for the team and bench Richardson. You can't ruin the confidence of a guy who has none in himself. @PatMcAfeeShow @BostonConnr
