Anthony Richardson was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft and showed promise in his rookie season before it was cut short due to injury.

In 2024, the Colts are 4-4, with Indy falling 23-20 to the Houston Texans and dropping to 2 games behind their AFC South rival. It was a rough outing for Richardson, who was 10-of-32 for 175 yards while tossing a touchdown and interception while recording 6 carries for 45 yards.

He was also sacked 5 times, the last one coming on the final play of the game. The Colts somehow got to the line in time for Richardson to spike the football with 1 second remaining after precious time had ticked off the clock on a would-be late drive. However, after initially avoiding a sack, Richardson lost the football, which ultimately was recovered by the Texans with no time remaining on the clock.

The Colts, of course, have a history of great quarterback play in their franchise’s history. They weren’t expecting Richardson to be the next Peyton Manning (or Johnny Unitas, for that matter), but Indianapolis fans will be hoping for more in the future from their franchise quarterback.

Here’s a sampling of the reaction to Richardson’s play from social media:
