Should Kentucky be ranked? Wildcat assistant Vince Marrow calls out preseason AP poll

For some reason, the Associated Press decided it would be a good idea to rank teams from the Big Ten and the Pac-12 in the official 2020 preseason AP poll, despite the fact those leagues have postponed their football seasons to the spring.

If the AP didn’t make that decision, Kentucky would have been ranked in the preseason poll.

The way it stands now, Kentucky is in the “others receiving votes” category of the preseason AP poll while seven teams from the Southeastern Conference were ranked in the poll.

If you missed it, here are the seven SEC teams that were ranked by the AP in the preseason: #3 Alabama, #4 Georgia, #6 LSU, #8 Florida, #11 Auburn, #13 Texas A&M and #25 Tennessee.

Vince Marrow’s reaction to that news is one that many from Big Blue Nation share on this Monday afternoon

“This is a joke but time will tell very soon. Go Big Blue,” Marrow tweeted out.

At the end of the day, it’s not about where you start, it’s where you finish and the Wildcats were just provided yet another chip on their collection shoulder entering the 2020 season.

While Mark Stoops likely won’t agree with Kentucky ranking outside the top 25 in the preseason poll, he probably secretly loves the ability to play the disrespect card for at least a few more weeks before the Wildcats open the season on the road against Auburn.
